If I ever moved away from Morelia, this ringing call would instantly transport me back here. That emotional connection earned it my #2 spot. That is because it is, well, a Mockingbird. The parents spent several weeks transporting food to the chick that remained after losing one shortly after it hatched. By the beginning of September the family had decided to move north and over two nights they moved through the area on Cable Beach that is the busiest during the day. Pied Oystercatcher returns to Cable Beach.

And don’t forget that Africa’s population continues to grow, putting more and more pressure on the land and many eyes watch the remaining wild spaces asking why the animals should have them and not hungry families.
