Twitching a Gray Kingbird in New York

We saw Common Gallinules , a nice male Rose-breasted Grosbeak , Bald Eagles , and a Great Horned Owl among the fifty-three species for our checklist. The long drive back to New York was filled by more lousy, incidental eBird checklists, more fast food, and more road kill. All was not lost though.

Winter Wanderland

We admired the Bison in the frozen fields and saw a juvenile Golden Eagle which was both beautiful and a lifer for my hosts. After a pleasant morning with ducks, crisp snow and sunshine, we followed the wildlife trail on our way out. Our hopes on this second stop for the day were cruelly squashed as the feeders had little to offer.

The Kerkini Lake, Greece: Dipped One, Got One

By the cliffs we find several Eurasian Crag-Martins and a consolation species – a family of Golden Eagles in the air! Eurasian Spoonbills are foraging, some of them literally running through the water chasing some fast food. That was my initial ID, it is a Clanga type eagle and the Lesser was the one I commonly find here.
