Add that sense of impending doom to an atypical appearance and you get a bird that stirs strong emotions in people. But what actually snapped me out of documenter mode was disgust. This is a family site so I won’t mention the what it managed to extract from that bag of garbage. I happen to love them.

We sing about them, we paint them, we use them as mythic and poetic symbols for our spiritual and emotional feelings, we wear them in myriad and often colorful ways, we adopt them as household pets. So, I just sit here, amazed at this book.

Best Bird of the Year 2012

This bird represented only the second documented record of this species in Florida. However, I am in a fierce and highly emotional year list competition with Corey, and it looks like I will lose against him. Northern Florida represented a refreshing change of scenery and an opportunity to explore with a renewed sense of discovery.
