A couple bends along the trail and it seemed as if we were out of human contact by a thousand miles. Spider monkeys swung through the highest branches, occasionally letting themselves fall to only a few boughs below, to peer curiously at these poorly adapted bipeds. A Screaming Piha cemented the ambience as one of true wilderness.

Whales are cows. So, for example, humans are apes. If we assume (probably incorrectly) that of apes and monkeys, they all descended from a monkey like ancestor, than apes are monkeys. The point is, of course, that whales are not cows. Even though whales are cows. Cows do not. Nor do camels.

These birds include a cave-dwelling bird that is so oily it can be used as a lamp and a bird that has claws on its wings and a stomach like a cow. The zoo has already identified several species like the huge monkey-eating Philippine eagle that are at once distinct, endangered, and suffer from lack of attention.

Are the kids cooking monkey, cat, dog, alligator or turtle? If you're going to call something an anthropological adventure, it would make sense to teach the kids about the other animals humans eat and give the kids the opportunity to prepare and eat dog, cat and monkey, no? But I bet anything doesn't go.

There are are presently thought to be five species of kiwi with a possible sixth extinct species, all of which have suffered varying degrees of range contraction since the arrival of humans. The Bay of Islands is a very popular area for tourists, both those looking for natural history and for human history. Thanks for visiting!

There are also a number of Takahe , one of which, named Greg, has learnt that humans equal food, and will hang around the day visitors in the hope of a snack.
