Emphasizing user-generated content, the site invites home cooks to exchange recipes, share photos, participate in contests and post messages. Vegans seek out vegan sites, but a nonvegan looking for a chocolate cake recipe probably won't seek out a vegan site. because they're already vegans.

It's too bad because I like the content and commentary. For example, here's Econista's take on Natalie Portman's vegan shoe line. Recently Natalie Portman appeared on Bravo's Project Runway hocking her vegan shoe line Te Cesan. While her shoes are adorable, I personally don't think certain vegan shoes are sustainable.

The PF Chang update, in case you haven't seen the response from the restaurant , is thus, once you incorporate the actual experiences of vegans who have gone through something similar with the restaurant: If you don't eat non-vegan sugar, there aren't many options. Everyone has their line in the sand.

Hal Herzog’s “ Some We Love, Some We Hate, Some We Eat ” (Harper 2011), though fascinating, is ultimately depressing for vegans and animal rights activists. Well, as it turns out neither a trip to a slaughterhouse nor killing an animal yourself is powerful enough to make people go vegan. What about their horror?

So here I am, on the third anniversary of Animal Person, asking for advice that has nothing to do with veganism or animal rights (and I've tweeted about this so some of you already know what's coming). And I cannot say I haven't missed a day for three years. I'm in the position of having to build a website for a child welfare organization.

Also, four years ago you couldn't put a Google search button on your blog to search only the contents of your blog. Lesson #20 We still don't know what will make a critical mass of people go vegan. But other than multi-pronged, multi-media, persistence, I have no idea what will be necessary to make most people go vegan.
