Being homeless, at first, this cat became one of the top-figures in press, both newspapers and TVs: even Oprah Winfrey has talked about her in own talk-show! One could only imagine how much pain the cat experienced while getting over the fire! The cat was sent to the intensive care immediately and placed in an oxygen chamber.

This little guy appeared weak and the wound on its head is very apparent. A young bird, yet to reach flight, is extremely vulnerable to pet cats and dogs. Feeding and caging them from your own pet, is impossible. Feeding and caging them from your own pet, is impossible. What to do? We took positive action.

Hospice Tails is a series of true stories about my experiences with pets and patients as a hospice social worker. Although I adore my own cats, I had not realized what an important role animals can play as life draws to a close. Some poodles are vocal dogs, yipping almost incessantly. Fizzle didn’t bark. I swore and jumped back.

Years ago, I became a wildlife volunteer and advocate because of a cat who caught a bird. Now, he lay frightened and ruffled in my hands, his tail tattered, his feathers damp from the maw of a cat named Puck. Back then, I didn’t know enough about birds, but I knew a lot about cats. I scrambled for a box.
