Back from the West!

We started our trip in Colorado where we spent the night and half a day exploring Denver before heading to Breckenridge where my aunt and uncle have a house they were kind enough to let us use for a few days. The birds weren’t high on the agenda while we were in Wyoming but I still managed to see some.

There were birders from a wide cross-section of the United States: Colorado, Ohio, Idaho, Iowa, Wyoming, Washington State, Pennsylvania, New York State, New Jersey, California, Texas, Florida. I’m sure there are states that I missed, but you get the idea. A short plane ride took the ABA Safari birders Kruger National Park.

My Top Ten Birds of 2016

I opened the year in California and even though I flew out in the evening on New Year’s Day I did see some species out there that I would otherwise not have seen for the year. Before this April I had only ever managed to come across Burrowing Owls once, five years ago in California. The year 2016 has been a pretty good year.
