My second favorite rescue story is that of Hunter, a beagle-ish dog that my daughter and son-in-law adopted from a shelter in Massachusetts. Barb looked like the kind of woman who would own a pit bull or a German shepherd. I didn’t have high hopes for Fizzle’s survival, but I called animal control and learned that they had taken Fizzle to a shelter about ten miles away. I gave the shelter a call, expecting to hear the worst.
