It’s not like I had forgotten lists created with friends of ‘songs with birds in the lyrics’, my personal favorites being Sondheim’s Green Finch and Linnet Bird and the Beatles’ Blackbird. We worship birds, we hunt birds, we protect birds, and, yes, we eat birds. As they say, the relationship is complicated.

Birds of Bolivia: Field Guide–A Book Review

This is more than eBird reports–a checklist generated from the citizen science database lists only 1,413 species. The guide covers 1,433 species, the number of birds documented at the end of 2014, the cutoff point for the book. Clearly, this is an under-birded country. .

Besides the American bison that the refuge was founded to protect, there are pronghorns, elk, bighorn sheep, mule and white-tailed deer, and black bears. As the name suggests, the National Bison Range is mostly known for its large mammals.
