There are plenty of lookouts and shelters, but there is no drinking water available at the toilet facilities, so you need to carry plenty of water. It is illegal to feed wild animals, take animals, birds and insects and it is also illegal to release animals in Singapore. It was proving to be a very good day for birding Pulau Ubin.

Marlgu Billabong at the end of the dry season

Last month we decided to head north to go camping and birding and top up the 2018 Year List. It is now very hot and dry inland and the temperature does not drop much at night, so you go to bed early and get up early like the animals and birds. We were woken by birds at 4am every day, so we were inside our tent early each night!

Wolfe Creek Crater birding

It is flat open country as you approach Wolfe Creek Crater and to be perfectly honest we were not expecting to find too much bird-life around due to the complete lack of water other than what would be at cattle troughs. It was actually surprisingly windy and the birds could ride the thermals quite well. Wolfe Creek Crater-dangerous!

We always have our eyes peeled to the surrounding area as we drive along because many birds inhabit the bush and of course we were concerned for the young man. There is an information shelter as you enter the park and then an information centre close to Cockatoo Lagoon a short distance in. Cockatoo Lagoon. Grey Butcherbird.
