Because of its large contiguous stand of bottomland hardwood forest, Bayou Cocodrie National Wildlife Refuge was designated as critical habitat and serves as a corridor for the Louisiana black bear between Tensas River National Wildlife Refuge and Red River Wildlife Management Area. The refuge is already open to sport fishing.

I know that male bears will kill cubs but how would two mother bears react to eachother crossing paths with their cubs? How would a mother react to a single female bear? Ive only ever seen one brief video on youtube of two mother bears growling at eachother while their cubs ran up a tree.

Now, there are still 10 million of them there but, due in part to a population dip after 1970, it is, in the reign of the second Elizabeth, illegal to kill them intentionally. Though the coast of British Columbia, a part of the Great Bear Rainforest, was rich in both, it was appallingly deficient in scientific data. The species was seemingly killed off by feather hunters, but then, after years, reappeared at the site of one of the deserted breeding colonies, Torishima Island in Japan.
