So far as I can determine the swan was not officially granted status as the national bird of Denmark by law but by a popular vote held by either Danish Television or Denmark Radio. This of course raises questions of what happens when all of the inland nesting grounds of all the loons becomes covered with glacial ice during ice ages, then later, the ice melts and the lakes return. Clare went a chose a first for Australia. Do the same pairs return, if possible, to the same nests after their long winter migration?
