Ferruginous Hawks were petitioned for listing under the federal Endangered Species Act in 1991 but rejected; currently they are listed as a Category 2 Species by the U.S. Obviously more research needs to be done on this magnificent raptor.

I even managed to shoot a video with hands trembling of excitement, probably a first of the species. Tommy Thompson Park Bird Research Station in Toronto had an extremely rare and beautiful Townsend’s Warbler x Black-throated Gray Warbler which was banded in April. Then we watched an adult and a chick feeding along the poolside.
