I have an unusual number of e-mails from individuals who have written, are writing, or would like to write a book about animals and asked about various steps in the publishing process. Books are obvious opportunities for advocacy and vegan education. Is your market vegans? When your proposal is complete, query agents.

She has very few pieces of clothing (and most are secondhand) and many of her books and toys are secondhand (and we had to weed through them for animal use). I may be a vegan and an atheist, but I'm really just a parent doing the best I can to give my child the best life possible. And there's one younger.

And how, for the love of God, people have got so stop saying things like Vegan Before 6! See Vegan Between Meals for more). From the vegan equals vegetarian discussion, to the nonviolence does or doesn't include property damage, to certain abolitionists deciding that they are in fact the only real abolitionists, it has gotten comical.

Cherry City Bath and Body is a great new, vegan bath and body company! I recently got a chance to try some of their items, including the new scent, Good Karma, that supports animal rescue. I just love using everything I got to try because not only does it all smell great, but I love knowing that everything is animal friendly too.

Also, an update on Emily's 50% vegan (Ami) diet. To determine whether it was the Ami or kibble in general I snatched some samples of Wellness and she had the same issue. And the "strict ethical vegan" to come.) I tried soaking it (I soak the dogs' kibble) but she wouldn't eat it. I'm going to give thanks to The Times by e-mail.

Most people are shocked and appalled when they first read descriptions of factory farming and learn about the horribly inhumane conditions in which the billions of animals destined for dinner tables are raised, and they are even more appalled when they first see documentary footage of the institutional cruelties inherent in factory farming.

Many vegans and animal rights activists "have a book in them" but soon discover, despite their well-crafted book proposal and sample chapters, that most mainstream publishers aren't interested. (And just for clarity, I'm not talking about using Xlibris and the like, which are print-on-demand companies.)
