I was browsing for some quotes when I came across this group - The National Animal Interest Alliance (NAIA). They had a page with quotes from animal rights activists, but as I was reading, I noticed that they were very unfavorable quotes from such activists as Wayne Pacelle and Ingrid Newkirk. So, I'm like, waaaaaait a minute.

So, they cleverly would hijack unpopular animals or people as placeholders for the devil and then swear to their heart’s delight. This goes so far as to hunters even using a very unique hunter’s jargon for the various activities related to hunting, or the names of the different parts of animals they hunt.

In responding to Suzie’s post defending wildlife rehabilitation I began to think again about the areas in which animal rights and animal welfare overlap with the field of conservation, and the ways in which they don’t. Not from an environmental perspective but from a “don’t you like animals?”

Hunters go to Africa to shoot lions, and this is without question a good thing; for birds, for ecosystems, and for lions in general! The interests of those working for conservation and those working for animal rights and animal welfare don’t always perfectly align like you might think they do.

I get that you’re really angry, I mean, he was a popular lion and yes, his cute widdle cubs will probably die to, but I can’t help feeling you’ve kind of missed the point a bit, and well, ending all hunting in Africa will not solve much and maybe make things worse and… No, no, I’m not a hunter. To a point.
