Animals for research purposes are coming from municipal shelters, breeders and the greyhound trade. In 2007, 394 dogs died during procedures for canine and human research. None of the animal shelters contacted by the Herald Sun have come across ex-research dogs in need of a home. From the Herald Sun.

I've never discussed that Emily the kitty eats one meal of Ami vegan kibble on most days (and one of canned, animal-based food). Violet the diabetic greyhound does very well as a vegan as her recent blood work demonstrated. Charles the lame greyhound doesn't process grains well at all. She is doing fine with that. He never has.

I alerted my regular (non-specialist) vet of this and though he didn't treat me like a crazy person, he didn't do any research, either. Every animal is different, so what I do with Violet won't be the ideal strategy for everyone. Tags: Current Affairs Greyhound Matters. He just figures I know what I'm doing.

Just in case you were wondering what an 85-lb red fawn greyhound looks like from the back with a couple dozen acupuncture needles in him. But I would feel like a terrible caregiver if animal protein was somehow the answer and I refused to try it. The needles between his toes were apparently not of the painless variety. I've had those.

Brief commentary follows this e-mail I received regarding greyhounds, animal rights and Ireland. Dear ARAN Members, I remember as a young child throwing stones and sticks at a terrified greyhound that slept in a back shed a few blocks from where I live. He would not return for many hours.

Lately my beautiful, old greyhound Ruby, a rescued and abused track dog had experienced extreme agony in her joints from being overly raced around a dog track in the first few years of her life. I raise money regularly for animal charities and awareness around canine exercise. Author Biography.

Because we planned to adopt I had been researching eco-friendly, vegan nursery items but had yet to purchase a thing. I did go to Babies-R-Us for some odds and ends and here's the Animal Person-related experience. Animals are all over the place at Babies-R-Us. She sniffed Sky up and down and walked away. At least at this stage.
