Researchers can continue most experiments on mankind's closest relatives -- chimpanzees, gorillas and orangutans -- after European Union lawmakers watered down proposals to restrict testing. Nothing, nothing makes me angrier than animal researchers.

I don't support animal research and I have no sympathy for animal researchers. I don't believe they want an honest dialogue about what they are doing to animals. I don't believe they are "brave" for "standing up" to animal rights activists. I had to stay in that group because she must be challenged.

An Alachua County Circuit Court judge has ordered the University of Florida to provide an animal rights activist with records on primates involved in research. Camille Marino of Wildwood, who founded the group Negotiation is Over, received the records last week.

I live in Seattle and I am always skeptical of how the UW treats its lab animals. I had never heard of the use of ferrets in medical research though. The complaining group, Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, based in Washington, D.C., News to me. Full story in the Seattle Times.

I've decided to quit my book club, which I dearly love, because of a member who works in medical research and supports animal experimentation. This has been a very difficult decision for me, because I have such good friends in the group. I thought I could stay with the group because she does give me fodder for the blog.
