Also, for quarter of a century I have been canoeing the Danube backwaters inside Belgrade and collecting data about birds (most of it I have entered into the eBird). Yes, none of the above. Even the first explorers to Australia documented there was a risk of extinction of birds and animals into the future and subsequently decided to collect as many specimens as possible! The lack of people does not mean we have any less extinct or threatened bird species than other countries. … Extinction is forever.

Since we collectively shared that day of birding with more than 20,000 people in more than 150 countries, there’s a pretty good chance that more people were out watching birds on May 13th than any other day in history. The weather kept cooperating but it was another story for the birds.
