Choosing to adopt a dog rather than get one at the pet store (or what some like to refer to as “puppy mill”) is a beautiful thing—essentially you are saving a poor pup from euthanasia and you’re providing a an animal with a good home. This final episode in the three-episode Season 1 disc was about the Vick dogs taken in by Best Friends for rehabilitation. (Be Be warned, there were some dog-fighting clips in the episode.) Rescuing the Vick dogs was a controversial move by Best Friends and some animal groups, most notably PETA, did not agree with it.

5K Run/Walk, Kid’s Fun Run and Adoption Celebration. Each year these groups combined, rescue and find homes for over 2,000 abandoned Southland dogs and cats, animals that most likely would otherwise have lost their lives. This means less dogs and cats can be saved. 4th ANNUAL “RACE FOR THE RESCUES” FUNDRASIER.

To the Editor: The euthanasia of more than 1,000 dogs and cats at the main animal shelter in Las Vegas is surely a major tragedy in the sheltering field (news article , Feb. 16), and the rapid spread of diseases at a facility packed with 1,800 animals required swift action to prevent even more suffering and loss of life.
