A parent bird’s instinct to feed and protect their young is very strong, and they will not willingly abandon their babies. It is illegal to keep a wild bird. Experience shows that bird parents do feed babies in makeshift nests reattached to tree branches, bushes, gutters, and even tree cavity sections duct taped to another tree.

And, though I think you can argue that the Bronx Zoo, with its numerous buildings and landscaped wildlife areas is not purely ‘natural space,’ I have wonderful memories of traipsing through its wooded areas when I was a girl. (I I didn’t grow up in the Bronx, but my best friend did.). It’s a very mixed chapter.

Just yesterday the FBI was able to complete its evidence gathering and clearing of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, returning the refuge back to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) and freeing the seventeen refuge employees to go back to work.
