And Chilean Flamingos should be found, well, in Chile, as well as much of southwestern South America. So both birds are assumed by many to be escapees from a zoo or a private collection somewhere. American Flamingos do occur naturally in Mexico, but only on the Yucatán peninsula in the country’s extreme southwest.

Yes, it’s nice to have information on 817 birds, and it’s wonderful to have full descriptions and photographs of birds commonly seen in Central and South America. It does seem like the order is concurrent with the 61st Supplement, which came out in 2020, but Northwestern Crow is included as a full species.

Where I Went Birding that Third Weekend of September 2020

There was the Botteri’s Sparrow giving a larger Canyon Towhee a piece of its mind, on my way into town: The reservoir itself was underwhelming, only offering me a collection of white Egrets (Cattle, Snowy and Great) and a single Great Blue Heron. This was my fourth and final FOY bird for the day. Brown-backed Solitaire.
