Oriental Greenfinches used the wires to perch and a Plain Laughingthrush picked through the leaf litter on this cold November morning. Depending on your definition of wall it could be considered to be from 3,889 miles to 13,171 miles.

At 6am it was still dark in the (relatively) high elevation rainforest where Golden-crowned Warblers fluttered just above the leaf litter, Collared Trogons and Hepatic Tanagers gathered to feed on the bounty of moths still on offer. I expected to learn a thing or two and possibly see some birds I had never seen before.

Northern Australia birding

It is a great time of year for camping and birding and we had not been beyond Timber Creek in the Northern Territory since 2014. They are always busy feeding in the leaf litter and while the leaves are dry it is easier to hear and find them than when the leaves are wet and quieter.

Juvenile Superb Lyrebird

This year we had a holiday in the Blue Mountains at the end of September instead of May , which we last did in 2014. We appreciate that we were very lucky that day to encounter these birds and they are doing an excellent job at turning over the leaf litter!
