Talking of gulls, I had a new meeting with an old acquaintance, the Black-headed Gull ringed in 2013 in the north of the country that I already met twice in 2015 and now again – I even recognized its ring because the combination of letters sounds a bit like “Yahoo”. Lesser Spotted Woodpecker – Dendrocopos minor.

My Year in Birding 2012

I wonder how many I’ll be able to add in 2013. March was very slow so I took the time to enjoy the common birds , especially woodpeckers and turkeys. I was pleased to add a new woodpecker to my Queens list too. There is no way 2013 will be as good as year for me birding-wise as 2012 was. Indigo Bunting.

I feel certain that, given Tennessee’s 18-year track record of celebrating cranes in a tremendously successful festival, the opposition will only be stronger in 2013. Canada Geese and Crows can figure it out, so can Cranes. TWRC’s response to the outcry was a two-year stay on the proposed season. Isn’t that neat?

Jochen’s 2014 Year List

In a funny twist of fate, it seems that 2014 will be much the same as 2012 and 2013 have been, with family trips to somewhere in France and business trips to Indonesia and Kazakhstan. Germany: extensive trips comparable to 2013. The overall lay-out and structure of this year list follows the previous 2013 list.
