First Phoebe of 2018

10,000 Birds

I saw my first migratory Eastern Phoebe of 2018 this afternoon at Forest Park, thus kicking off spring for myself over a week after spring actually started. As I have for the last several years, I will now ask the same question of midwesterners and northeasterners that I ask every year: When did you see your first Eastern Phoebe of 2018?

Once again the bird disappeared, or at least wasn’t reported, until it was noted at Titchwell RSPB Reserve on the North Norfolk coast on 10 July 2018.
