Shearwaters from Shore

According to eBird, there have been approximately 270 species seen at the hotspot that includes the harbor. The evening of September 7, 2012 was a truly memorable birding experience. Bonus : A couple of years earlier, a blue whale washed up several miles south of Half Moon Bay, at Bean Hollow State Beach.

Amazing New York State Pelagic Trip

We had three species of storm-petrel keeping us busy: Wilson’s Storm-Petrel , Band-rumped Storm-Petrel , and Leach’s Storm-Petrel. The latter two species were a pleasure as I had only previously made their acquaintance during Hurricane Irene. a beautiful dawn sky. And what birds! storm-petrels feeding next to the boat.
