She was adopted immediately, but returned almost as quickly because the people didn't realize how inconvenient diabetes can be. We spent the end of 2004 and beginning of 2005 getting fired by vet after vet. Of course, that also rendered her defective and she was therefore immediately "discarded." Violet was just under four-years old.

Having said that, my sentimental journey started without a plan, more by accident, on an AGM of BirdLife Slovenia in Ljubljana in 2005. Hence, I had to adopt a new one. Deafened by the best rock Yugoslavia ever produced and blinded by the freedoms we enjoyed – paradoxically, without democracy, I couldn’t see it. And I become a Birder.
