For the United States, there is also a state list. As of mid-November 2021, the Collaborative had submitted more than 4,200 checklists (up from 1,700 in 2018) and has observed 691 species in the United States (up from 618). The Collaborative has also added six states. and West Virginia ranks 44th.

Snowy Owl Invasion!

The midwestern and northeastern United States, especially coastal regions and areas along the Great Lakes, is currently experiencing an invasion of Bubo scandiacus. Here in New York State Snowy Owls have been reported in more than ten counties, with most of those counties having birds being seen in multiple locations.
