I promised you that this week I would give some tips for processing your photos. No doubt other digital brands come with equivalent software. Our focus is on seeing as many birds as possible on a given outing. But why not get some nice pictures while you are seeing them? So, having covered those two points, here we go: Trim!

We recently got a chance to check out a great new book called Pet Photography 101: Tips for taking better photos of your dog or cat ! The book offers tips and tricks for photographing your pet using the latest technologies. There is even a section for taking better photos using a cell phone camera!

A complete guide would have pictures, audio, and video (something like Thayers birding software). Hat-tip to Stella. I think the digital guides need to improve in user-friendliness. The future definitely will be electronic. I think the future of ID guides is video. Wicked, right?

It is a bird of black and gray uppersides and yellow and white undersides, with a black tail that, when seen from underneath, is broadly black at the tip with a white base and white undertail coverts. This rather short-tailed bird perches perkily and horizontally in the understory. Using sonograms is not new.
