Even sparrows, if you choose the right species and play your cards right, can be elevated to ‘cute’ status. Small and white and rounded and basicly cute, could it not be the Turtle Dove to the rest of the Laridae ‘s Rock Pigeons ? Still, those Ivory Gulls surviving off those putrid seals are tough cookies.

Observing it negotiate swaying and swishing palm fronds was akin to seeing a seal swim through a kelp forest. While they didn’t let me walk right up to them, they didn’t fly away from the moment we pulled in the parking lot. The Point-tailed Palmcreeper is a strange bird in all senses.

The National Park is unusual because it offers very few facilities compared to most, but there is a sealed road right into the small car park and a shade shelter with a table and chairs and information about the park. Turtle shell. All access is on foot and the trail is about 9kms-5.5 miles long.
