Anyway, I was much keener to see this kingfisher than the Emu (who I consider to be a bit of an underprivileged ostrich). While the Double-barred Finch is sometimes referred to as Bicheno’s finch or as the owl finch , a much nicer other name is owl finch, which is derived from the dark ring of feathers around the face ( source ).
