I didn't know primates were in demand too. I knew about bush meat, but not about this. Tags: traditional medicine poaching primates endangered species. It's not just tiger parts and elephant tusks that are being used for so called "traditional" medicinal uses. Will it ever end?

Further, did those who reacted so strongly to Harambe’s killing go home and serve meat to their children? The zoo, surely, carries responsibility for deficiencies in its enclosure. The hysteria of the crowd surely played a part in escalating an already frightening situation. This horrible incident has raised some tough questions indeed.

The one bird I did not see here, however, was the Bateleur Eagle … One highlight in the area is the Saddle-billed Stork , likely to be the tallest species in the stork family. The African Spoonbill is one of the six global spoonbill species, and the main African one (there are also some Eurasian Spoonbills in Africa).
