I knew the military in general used animals for combat medical practice.hadn't thought of the Coast Guard though. A congressman also has introduced legislation that would phase out the use of animals by the military for such training. PETA leads the charge against the Coast Guard. It amazes me that legislative business is still being conducted in DC these days, what with the US economic sky falling. Tags: horse animal cruelty legislation Slaughterhouse us. Especially animal business. The Prevention of Equine Cruelty Act (H.R. 6598) is a bill that criminalizes the sale and transportation of horses for slaughter.

I read the following in a book about the pharmaceutical industry by Marcia Angell (the first woman to serve as the editor of the New England Journal of Medicine and currently a Senior Lecturer at the Harvard Medical School) called The Truth about the Drug Companies. It is about the Bayh-Dole Act and it has really stuck with me.

California’s Proposition 2 is not solely about the California egg business but is also about the egg industry’s national survival, warned Gene Gregory at the annual legislative meeting of United Egg Producers (UEP).
