I looked around to see if there was a littler and I found the remains of at least 3 kittens. One was a full bodied kitten, already dead, unfortunately. What surprised me was finding a total of 6 kitten paws in two areas plus one kitten tail. Not sure if it was mice or the momma cat moving around.

In one case, up to 17 kittens from three litters died or were euthanized -- with no experiment data generated -- after injections to induce hydrocephalus. Failed to provide minimal enrichment for animals -- companionship for monkeys, balls for pigs, paper towels for mice -- to reduce emotional stress. Certainly a case to follow.
