I like this opinion piece from the Christian Science Monitor which calls for an "Endangered Species Hour." It's in response to the pathetic CITES conference which basically screwed marine animal protection. Japan, which imports most of the tuna, led the fight against a proposed ban.

Their strong presence here at Nanhui in combination with their highly threatened status should be a good argument to protect Nanhui better. In case the local government needs further incentives to protect Nanhui, Oriental Storks are also listed as endangered. Can’t say I heard this though.

We worship birds, we hunt birds, we protect birds, and, yes, we eat birds. It includes stunning photographs by Tipling of eagle hunters (as in Kazakhs who hunt with eagles), Stellar Sea Eagles in Hokkaido, Japan, and Black Kites at the dump near New Delhi, India. As they say, the relationship is complicated.
