Ka’ena Point is also a breeding ground for the Federally protected Laysan albatross, where 45 nests were being carefully monitored by the non-profit Pacific Rim Conservation. The oldest Laysan albatross was last seen raising a chick on Midway Atoll in 2016, at age 66. What about people who are kind and decent and obey the law?

FLAP is the Fatal Light Awareness Program, located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and this is how they raise awareness. But, yes, there are photographs of dead birds and x-ray images of the damage done to individual birds and photographs of the annual FLAP display, as shown below. It’s not a bad idea.

This summer Lisa raised three orphaned Common Ravens. They were not aware of wildlife laws, and thought they could raise and release them. We decided to raise them, and hoped they would wild up quickly if we followed the protocol for avoiding imprinting. But this one was a bit different. Release day came. It was great!
