This park protects the largest remaining tract of dry deciduous forest in the west of India, offering visitors 37 species of reptiles, 38 species of mammals and, not to be forgotten – almost 300 bird species. After several game drives, once again we are at the front gate of the Gir National Park in the state of Gujarat.

The time quickens, we hurry for lunch (and a Kingfisher Beer – birders staple in India) and back to Semadoh for Bhola Mawaskar. Raising and lowering its head, like stretching. A survey in 2011 in non-protected areas of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh confirmed the presence of the species at two locations.

Another advantage to ballistic food transport is that the fruit seeds are protected from damage when they are swallowed whole. for decorating the headgear and house interiors by the local tribals, at least in parts of India ( source ). Of course, their own mother is not the only threat to Wreathed Hornbill individuals.
