Urban Birding in San Diego

Although the property has seen human impacts, there have been recent efforts to improve water quality and restore this important habitat. In between showers, we were able to go investigate a bit and we found a few Blue-gray Gnatcatchers , fishing Osprey , and chickadees. Osprey carrying a fish La Jolla Cove has a lot going on.

Parry’s Lagoon Nature Reserve

Crocodile warning As you walk out towards the hide the birdlife is not the least bit bothered about any human activity and remains along the water’s edge. Star Finch We heard some rustling near the boardwalk close to the hide in the middle of the day and closer investigation produced an active Buff-banded Rail.
