At just under 1,000 acres of reserve property with several habitat types, it hosts a diversity of plants and animals. Although the property has seen human impacts, there have been recent efforts to improve water quality and restore this important habitat. A few rain showers passed which caused us to run for the nature center and cover.

Crocodile warning As you walk out towards the hide the birdlife is not the least bit bothered about any human activity and remains along the water’s edge. Star Finch We heard some rustling near the boardwalk close to the hide in the middle of the day and closer investigation produced an active Buff-banded Rail.
