The problem of free-roaming cats — and their predation on birds and other wildlife — is hotly contested in communities across the country, and it triggered a lively exchange in the hearing room.

Feral Cats Are An Invasive Species in North America (and elsewhere)

Read what you want about the origin of domestic cats; the genetic evidence is not properly sampled. When you throw the feral Cat in there, not only do they push out the indigenous wild carnivores, but they are hunting animals that are not quite adapted to avoiding them as well as they may be to avoiding other animals.

In the same article, Henry Adams, wildlife management coordinator for Lincoln Park Zoo’s Urban Wildlife Institute, describes the night heron as having “grumpy old geezer energy.” for a sample of more than 800 species ( source ). It seems to me that Azure-winged Magpies have become more and more frequent in Shanghai parks.
