The topic was the concept of humans as predators, or hunters, or really, eaters of meat, and I was discussing the many ways in which people misconceived this notion. Any buffalo bones from prior to that transition were obviously scavenged.

The next argument is usually something along the lines of: But animals in the wild might starve to death, and get injured, maimed or killed by predators! And before any hunter can blurt out "Have you ever seen a deer die of starvation in the woods?

They are harmless to humans and their horns are used for wrestling other males for mating rights. Lions are most easily found in South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.

Take lions, wolves, hyenas to name a few. But in the case of Harris Hawks , this mentality jumps the species barrier and they form a strong bond with their human partners, readily accepting their non-avian hunting companions as members of their pack. There are many examples in the animal world of pack behavior.
