I found this little grouping of Guillemots, with parents, babies and even an egg. While there were way less Puffins than any of the other species, they are still so much fun to see. Red Kites were considerted a Threatened Species starting in the early ‘80s, and a nation wide program was started to re-introduce them around the UK.

The west end of the lake has been designated as a Watchable Wildlife Reserve, with some nice walking trails and a couple of very nice hides built overlooking some varied waterways. In the past, seeing some of these Ring-necked Ducks would have been rather scarce, so here is a shot of the small group that were on the larger pond.

465 species have been recorded and the list keeps growing. There are 34 endemic species and the best season to pursue them is November to April when it is dry in the southwest where the remaining rainforests are, plus, this period has the added bonus of wintering migrants. Okay, okay, huge and hard to miss aside, but what about birds?
