Conservation groups have staged protests in 20 Russian cities this week, demanding an end to the slaughter. Activists accused Norwegian companies of encouraging the killing because seal hunting was no longer allowed in their own country.

Critically Endangered: Sociable Lapwing

Back to Gipsy and toward a distant group of farmers working their fields. Sociable Lapwings breed in several areas along the Kazakhstani – Russian border and overwinter in Iraq, Sudan and northwest India. Peter is running back from his recce: some 600 meters away, he has noticed about 15 Sociable Lapwings in flight!
