It is responsible for some of the happiest moments of my childhood, the trips to the Buffalo Museum of Science that kindled my passion for nature; and yet, the quest for specimens ushered some of my favorite species of birds out of the world. It is driven by love for animals, but relies on their deaths to exist.

In the Neotropics the barbets have been placed into two families, the original Capitonidae (New World Barbets) with 14 species and Semnornithidae (Toucan Barbets) with 2 species (Toucan and Prong-billed Barbet). Yellow-fronted Tinkerbird is a woodland species that occurs widely through Africa. Benson to collect birds.

But it is utterly bewildering to me to see news reports about this recent science that read “… An icon knocked from its perch&# or “Archaeopteryx no longer first bird.&# The trait must then be identifiable as to whether or not it exists in a certain species. What evolved into what?
