This is the home of the Rusty-naped Pitta , admittedly one of the less glamorous of the family, particularly the subspecies found in Yunnan, but still a nice sight and still a pitta. Fish & Wildlife Service has a web page for this species – but it contains absolutely no information. His obituary was published in Nature.

The result is a description of the Velvet-fronted Nuthatch like this: “One of the few nuthatches to break the general neutral color scheme of the family, this stunner can be quite common …” This species is a cavity nester but unable to build its own cavities. Some research topics seem a bit bizarre to me.
