I say "if you know someone" because this isn't a book I'd recommend to vegans for their vegan education efforts. The vegans I know would probably find it a bit maddening, and here's why: We aren't sure whether Foer is a vegan. He always refers to himself and his wife and his child as "vegetarian."

There's no remotely vegan or even vegetarian (though I'm not even sure what the latter would look like) message. The moral of the story is that it's all about the way we farm animals, not that we farm them that is what needs changing. Then they yank the heads, slit the throats, and de-feather and gut the chickens.
