There are countless dogs and cats in shelters across the U.S. In fact, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 5 to 7 million pets are taken into animal shelters in the U.S. Patience – Animals in shelters or those who have been moved from home to home are often under tremendous stress.

They did not experiment on primates (I asked!), but did experiment on mice and guinea pigs. Interesting that many of the grants this place gets specifically say they can't experiment on any domesticated animals (cats and dogs I guess.). It reminded me of an adoption poster at the animal shelter. It was a jarring moment.

Formed in 2007, this organization seeks to promote the humane treatment of animals by promoting effective animal sanctuary management. Led by professionals who have experience with organizations such as the Humane Society of the United States, the group is definitely not new to the issues surrounding animals worldwide.

Most often pets are not allowed in these shelters due to reasons of human health safety. Contact animal shelters and kennels in your evacuation area.

NEW JERSEY – Animal shelters are full, they have no space, they often have no money, and they have a small amount of dedicated volunteers. There is an estimated 3-4million pets euthanized each year in US animal shelters. There is a strong lack of homes willing to open their doors to fostering a shelter pet.
