It was an exciting experience, though a remarkably chilly one, as winters in Castile and León can be very cold. This northern fox really does look red, unlike the pale, sandy-coloured animals I saw in Georgia in 2019 ( below ). Why the weasel should be the head of the family doesn’t really make sense.

I also spent a week in northwestern Costa Rica on a family vacation, a long weekend in Barbados, a week in Georgia, and two week-plus-long trips to visit relatives in southern California. Our family trip to Barbados was mostly about the beach but it was also chock full o’birds! Number 7 – Barbados Bullfinch.

She traveled to Antarctica and South Georgia, East Antarctica and the Ross Sea (“deep Antarctica”), Patagonia, the Falkland Islands, the small desert islands off the coast of Chile, the Galapagos, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, and Tristan da Cunha and Gough Islands in the middle of the South Atlantic Ocean.
