We managed to see both species of monkey, though – so we were ultimately well satiated. Crisscrossed by 24″ pipelines transporting oil from numerous offshore platforms, oil companies exercised the strongest presence here. Occasional fly-bys of pairs and trios of Red-bellied Macaws kept us on our toes.

The Bird Watching Society meets just about every weekend, so birders should check their activities calendar for scheduled events. And even though transportation is so easy and inexpensive, prepare to walk a lot. While I only dedicated part of my time to scheduled birding events, I always had my bins handy. Nevertheless, 370,000 ticket applications were received from USA, which shows a real enthusiasm if slight confusion about the event which will be contested in Brazil during June and July 2014 and will likely attract television audiences of more than 3 billion over the course of the tournament.
