In any event, this round of H5N2 outbreaks is expected to slow down and stop soon, as the migrations wind down. This is the first finding in the Mississippi flyway.

Maybe it was a version of the Mississippi River, maybe it was a version of the Warren River, likely both. In any event, by mid summer or so, the babies are not so small and more or less do OK on their own and hang around the nest. Atop the ridge, where no one will ever build cabins because it is too high up, is a grove of white pines.
