Maybe it was a version of the Mississippi River, maybe it was a version of the Warren River, likely both. Non-bird watchers without binoculars and experience are notoriously bad sources of information. In any event, by mid summer or so, the babies are not so small and more or less do OK on their own and hang around the nest.

However, few realize that this flat, densely populated county boasts one of the highest list totals of any county east of the Mississippi. It was a banner winter season for warblers in Miami-Dade, with a total of 22 species seen during the course of the event (and we missed a few!).
